Canada Post strike: What it means for your Direct Energy bill

In the event of a potential Canada Post service disruption on May 22, 2025, mail deliveries, including your energy bill, may be delayed. To make sure you receive your bill on time, we encourage you to switch to paperless billing to get your bills by email. For all the latest updates, visit Canada Post's website.

How do I sign up for paperless billing?

Going paperless is easy! Sign up in just a few clicks:

  1. Register or sign in to your Online Account
  2. Go to “Account Summary”
  3. Under "Communication" and "Bill delivery", click edit and select "Email"

You’ll be able to access your bills anytime, anywhere and never miss a bill due to postal delays.

Do I still need to pay my bill if I didn't receive it in the mail?

Yes, you’re still responsible for paying your bill, even though your paper bill is delayed or interrupted.

How do I view my bills in my Online Account?

To access copies of your bills, register or log in to your Online Account and click the “Bills and payments” button under “Quick Links” to see your Account Overview.

How do I avoid issues with my payments due to mail service disruption?

You can sign up for Auto Pay in your Online Account by clicking "Set up Auto Pay" within your Account Overview. We accept AMEX, Visa, Mastercard, or direct debit.

What happens if I sent my cheque payment in the mail during a Canada Post strike?

Unfortunately, during a Canada Post service disruption, we might not have received your cheque payment on time which could result in a missed payment. But don't worry! There are other hassle-free ways to pay your bill to avoid any delay. View your payment options here.
