Season of Giving at Direct Energy

Supporting Indigenous Communities in Alberta by providing winter essentials when they’re needed most.

At Direct Energy, our RISE (Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and Supporting Equity) employee group is dedicated to building respect, connection and meaningful support for Indigenous communities across Alberta. Its mission includes encouraging cultural-learning, fostering understanding and leading community-focused initiatives throughout the year.

One of these initiatives is our annual Season of Giving, a winter donation drive coordinated by RISE and supported by volunteers from across the company. Each year, employees in Calgary and Edmonton come together to purchase warm clothing, toys, school supplies, technology and other essentials, with donations delivered to partners such as the Calgary Friendship Centre and the SiksikaTsuut’ina, Alexander and Maskwacis Indigenous communities.

Since the program began, Direct Energy has contributed more than $40,000 in supplies, helping ease the challenges winter brings for many communities in Alberta.

We are committed to supporting Indigenous communities and continuing to foster relationships rooted in respect, understanding and long-term partnership.
